“The dullness,” says the Sunday Sun, “which has settled down upon the literary world will be slightly relieved during the coming week by the publication, through Messrs. Osgood, McIlvaine, & Co., of a volume of short stories from the pen of Mr. Oscar Wilde. The book will contain four tales, none of which, however, will be new. The first—that which gives the volume its title—is called ‘Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime’; the second is known as ‘The Canterville Ghost’; the third as ‘The Sphinx Without a Secret’; and the fourth as ‘A Model Millionaire.’ The stories made their first appearance many years ago, and were probably forgotten by everyone but Mr. Wilde himself. He has now very carefully revised them.”
