Mr. Oscar Wilde appears to much better advantage as a writer of short tales, as seen in the new volume 'The Happy Prince and Other Tales,' than in—well, for instance, than in [sic] walking down Picadilly with a lily in his mediæval hand. The story which lends its name to the title rôle is full of delicate, beautiful fancy, and a vein of shrewd wit runs through it, while one entitled 'The Devoted Friend' is one of great pathos and power, and 'The Remarkable Rocket' is as piquant a little sarcasm as one can imagine, brilliantly embodied.
