Fiction with a strongly marked character of its own is always welcome, and Oscar Wilde's little book 'Lord Arthur Savile's Crime, and Other Stories' (Osgood, McIlvaine, & Co.), deserves to be read. Of the four tales here brought together one, 'The Model Millionaire,' is of the slightest possible description, whilst 'The Sphinx without a Secret' is hardly satisfying. But 'Lord Arthur Savile's Crime' and 'The Canterville Ghost' possess an originality of treatment as well as of design which must endear them to the judicious reader. Of course, each story abounds in smart sayings characteristic of their author.
